“You will avoid a lot of trouble if you stay out of here”, a visibly drunk Prof. V Eswaran (ME Dept. IITK) to a group of four students who were in Visitors Hostel when the ‘81 Batch was welcoming New Year.
Now I come to the main issue. The questions are
1) Were the students wrong?
2) What kind of trouble was Prof. Eswar refering to ?
Coming to answers which seem most probable to me are
1) Yes , the students were wrong because if one of the students of the institute grows up to be such an irrational, irresponsible and dumbass Professor, then obviously students of that Institute are something from which others should be shielded at all costs but Hey weren’t those inside were students at one point of time too and anyway what was Prof. Eswaran doing there himself by his same yardstick.
2) The trouble part is something which the four students should have asked Prof. Eswaran to elaborate more on and explain fully. This was all where those four erred in my view. Or they should have stayed there and seen for themselves what kind of trouble was being referred to by the said Prof.
Now what amuses me about the whole incident is that those very professors expect most of these students to contribute/donate to the Institute. Let me be explicit. These professors literally beg for money from the alumni and the way they treat the students, I am mighty surprised how come they are even able to get a penny from them in donations.
If you ask me the only thing that might have saved the day for the professor was that the four of them might have thought that killing would only ease the pains of the so called professor.
And the question I would like to ask prof. Eswar is What kind of complex is he suffering from? That guy in my opinion is in dire need of some psychiatric help at the earliest.
And I feel pity at the kind of enviornment that exists in the so called premier technological institute of the country. If this is the best the country has got to offer to its young minds I daresay the nation is going to make much progress in near future at all.
